The Burrows House was built in 1895 on the Coast Highway at Alder Street. It served as a home and boarding house until 1933 when it became a funeral parlor. The Bank of Newport purchased the property and house in 1976 and donated the house to the Lincoln County Historical Society which moved the building to its current location so a new bank building could be built on the original location. The building officially opened as a museum on Sunday, September 24, 1978.
