The grave site is very elaborate. There is a central tablet with an inscription. On either side of this tablet is a column. On the exterior side of each of the columns is an angel, a skull, and an hourglass. A portion of the headstone inscription reads:

To the Memory of
James Chalmers Esq.
Erected by his son Thomas A.D. 1675.
