There are a variety of signs at the site which deal with specific details of the Mills.
This is one of a group of three signs which deal with the history of the Thompson’s Mills.
Text of the Sign:
Wecome to Boston
Entrepreneurs opened businesses to serve farmers who brought in their wheat to be ground, leading to the platting of the town of Boston in 1861.
In 1871, the railroad bypassed Boston to the west. Shortly thereafter the buildings were literally picked up and moved to the tracks. “Shedd’s Station” became the regional hub and Boston was no more.

In its heyday, Boston boasted a post office, stage stop, blacksmith, two stores and a saloon.
The mill was on the east edge of town.
Shedd’s Station was later shortened to “Shedd.”
