Robert E. Lee School faces north on Rosewood Street, between 5th and 6th. It is currently occupied by the Little Dixie Community Action Agency, as their NeighborWorks Home Ownership Center.
This is a one-story T-shaped building. The classroom portion measures 144 x 64 ft. and has a flat roof with a stepped parapet. The light colored brick has a band below the roof line which is laid with multi-colored bricks. The result is a Art Deco look. The windows are set in threes, with everything boarded except one window in each unit. The entrance is centrally located and recessed within a projected entrance bay. There are two glazed doors flanking a fixed window unit. The building has a concrete water table. The school building is above road level, and has a rock retaining wall across the facade at curbside.
The T-portion of the building extending from the back to the south is the gymnasium. It measures 55 x 44 ft. These windows are entirely boarded up. There is a barrel roof over this portion.
