The former Benedictine Monastery of St. Peter and Paul was established in the 11th and 12th century. Over the centuries, the buildings were expanded, until 1692, when the War of Palatine Succession destroyed the abbey. The grounds are permanently open to the public to view the ruins. The attached church has a permanent display with placards explain the various sections of the church.
