1870-1871, the Franco-Prussian War occurred between France and Germany. One of many wars, many died. In Neuhausen stands a memorial to those from the local area who lost their lives. The inscription on the monument states "Andenken an den Krieg 1870-71" and "Die Wacht am Rhein 1876". The monument was erected in 1876 and is topped by Germania, the human figure symbolic of Germany.
