We visited this site on a 19km hike following the path of Hermann Hesse, seeing locations he lived and the area he grew up in.

In addition to the physical birthplace of Hesse, there is a museum dedicated to him in the town. There is also the Hermann Hesse Weg, which one can follow around Calw. There are 37 markers throughout the town which contain an old photograph and lines from Hesse's works. The markers contain information about Hesse's interactions with the town, or just local history.
