György Sebők was a famous pianist and music teacher. He was born in Hungary in 1922 and started his career after the Second World War in Eastern Europe. After the Hungarian uprising, he emigrated to Paris in 1957 and then to the United States in 1962, where he was Professor of Piano at Indiana University Bloomington until his death in 1999. György Sebők is one of the most important piano pedagogues of the second half of the 20th century. In addition to his professorship, he held master classes throughout the world. In 1974, he founded a summer academy in Ernen, to which Mühlebach belongs, and in 1987 a music festival, from which today's festival Musikdorf Ernen emerged.

Sebők died in Bloomington in 1999. After the death of his wife Eva in 2010, the ashes of the two were scattered at one of their favorite places in front of the chapel of Mühlebach.
