Neva Long was born on 31 March 1896, one of nine siblings -- though one of them passed away at 2 years old, 3 years before Neva was born. Of the 9 siblings, 2 of them lived to be centenarians: Neva and Christine (1903-2004). Neva married Theodore Raymond ("Ray") Goodwin (1877-1969) who had been married and "divoced" (sic) by 50 years old. Theodore was nearly 19 years older than Neva.

When Theodore passed away in 1969, he was about 92 years old, and Neva was 73 years old. Neva continued on another 27 years, passing away on 14 August 1996, which was a half a year older than 100 years.
