FR: Les marais salants
Comme sur l'ensemble de l'île de Noirmoutier, les marais salants ont bien failli disparaitre des marais de Müllembourg. Toutefois, après une longue phase de déclin de l'activité salicole, un regain d'intérêt pour la récolte du sel est apparu dans les années 1980.
Au fil des siècles, l'activité salicole a façonné les marais de Müllenbourg. Elle permet, avec le savoir-faire des sauniers et t'aide du vent et du soleil, de produire du sel de façon totalement naturelle.
Sur la partie « Petit Müllembourg » de la réserve naturelle, au fil des années, sept sauniers ont restauré dix salines. Les autres bassins abandonnés sont utilisés comme « chauffes » pour mieux préparer l'évaporation de l'eau.
Un paysage original
Les salines constituent un paysage original et permettent de maintenir sur le site un élément de la mosaïque des marais salés de la côte atlantique, caractérisé par une salinité estivale extrême. Des êtres vivants remarquables sont adaptés à ces milieux, tel un petit crustacé (Artemia sp.).
L'activité salicote
L'activité salicote a été prise en compte dans le décret de création de la réserve naturelle, qui l'autorise « conformément aux usages en vigueur à la date de création de la réserve et dans le respect des dispositions prévues par le décret. »

EN: The salt marshes
As on the whole of the island of Noirmoutier, the salt marshes almost disappeared from the marshes of Müllembourg. However, after a long period of decline in the activity of saliculture, a renewed interest in the salt harvest appeared in the 1980s.
Over the centuries, the salt industry has shaped the marshes of Müllenburg. It allows, with the know-how of the salt-makers and helps you wind and sun, to produce salt in a totally natural way.
On the "Petit Müllembourg" part of the nature reserve, over the years, seven saltworkers have restored ten salt works. The other abandoned basins are used as "heaters" to better prepare the evaporation of the water.
An original landscape
The salt pans constitute an original landscape and make it possible to maintain on the site an element of the mosaic of the salt marshes of the Atlantic coast, characterized by an extreme summer salinity. Remarkable living things are adapted to these environments, such as a small crustacean (Artemia sp.).
Salicote activity
The saliculture activity was taken into account in the creation decree of the nature reserve which authorizes it "in accordance with the usages in force at the date of creation of the reserve and in compliance with the provisions of the decree. "
