Meridian & Bigbee Railroad Bridge -- Alabama River at Selma AL - Truss Bridges on Waymarking.com

This swing bridge was built to cross the Alabama River at Selma AL. The Meridian & Bigbee Railroad built the bridge, but after railroad industry consolidation over the years the bridge is now owned by the CSX railroad.

Blazterz best guess about the date of construction for this bridge is before 1910, since we found a 1910 postcard online showing the bridge swung open.

The bridge is made up of two Parker through-truss sections of slightly different sizes. The longer of the two sections is paced on the moving section of the bridge that hosts the bridgetender's control house in the center.
