School Gym/Auditorium - Choctaw, OK - WPA Projects on Waymarking.com

This is a rectangular concrete block building which originally had a barrel roof. A blue metal hipped roof has been added in more recent years, as well as additions on the east and north. The block building is painted a cream color, with a bright blue metal sided roof and drain pipes. It follows the look of the Choctaw Middle School field house which stands just south of it. It is located at the intersection of Main and 3rd Streets.

This gym/auditorium faces south and has a symmetrical facade. Two entrances each have double metal doors, with a large transom. The large construction blocks have recessed lines horizontally, three feet apart. At the center, the upper wall has a circular, masonry emblem which is beginning to deteriorate, which shows "CHS" for Choctaw High School.
The building was a WPA construction in 1939, with an appropriation of $32,100.
