EN: A trebuchet is a type of a catapult that was probaly invented in ancient China. It found its way to Europe in the early medieval times and was in use in the Byzantine Empire from the 6th century. Until the rise of fire weapons, it was widely used, espiecially in sieges.
This medieval trebuchet stands at the corner of a sports field about 200 meters south of the castle. There are no detail informations available. A large sign next to it just forbids to climb on it. The part that holds the projectile is usually not mounted, but it looks like the machine is completed and demonstrated in action during the biannual medieval festival of Ferrette.
