Retired Lt. Gen. Paul E. Funk will speak during the ceremony, which will take place in the cemetery’s assembly area near the bell tower, according to Pat Hidy, secretary of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 1000, Harker Heights.
After the speaker and the benediction, those present will be able to walk the short distance to the memorial for viewing, Hidy added. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.
It is the first such monument in Killeen, and the first in Texas to be erected in a state veterans cemetery.
The memorial was created by sculptor Troy Kelley, of Salado, and took two years to plan.
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1000 facilitated the fundraising and donations of time, material, money and talent.
