Thirteen people died at Fort Hood on Nov. 5, 2009 at the hands of a terrorist. There are 13 columns with pictures of the deceased and information about their lives, and topped by small bronze sculptures. They are under a circular pavilion.

On November 5, 2009, a mass shooting took place on the Fort Hood military base, near Killeen, TX. A U.S. Army major and psychiatrist, whose name doesn't deserve to be remembered, turned terrorist and fatally shot 13 people and injured 32 others.The shooting was the worst mass shooting on an American military base.

The terrorist was arraigned by a military court on July 20, 2011 and was charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. His court-martial began on August 7, 2013. He was found guilty on all 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder on August 23, 2013, and was sentenced to death on August 28, 2013.
