FR Haut lieu de pèlerinage, depuis sa création en 1668, la Chapelle Saint Jean-Baptiste, située sur un replat, est adossée au promontoire qui domine la vallée de la Durance.

Le 29 août de l'année 1753, elle fut le théâtre d'un événement particulier : un enfant de sept ans, Pierre Manuel, fut guéri d'une maladie incurable, pendant une messe rassemblant deux cents personnes qui célébraient la mémoire de la décollation de saint Jean-Baptiste.

Du haut de ses six cent soixante-six mètres d'altitude elle veille sur le village et la citée qui s’étalent harmonieusement au pied de la légendaire colline du même nom.

Son style de construction et son aspect intérieur sont le reflet de la modestie et de la simplicité qui caractérisaient le paysage de la Haute Provence d’autrefois.

La chapelle ne comporte qu’une nef à deux travées, une voûte ordinaire, sans recherche d’éclat qui se termine par une abside semi-circulaire.

A l’origine, l’abside était ornée d’enluminures, mais l’ensemble était passablement dégradé par l’usure du temps. Trois vitraux avaient été posés à la fin du siècle dernier, mais ils ont aujourd’hui été remplacés. Deux tableaux existaient à l’intérieur de la Chapelle : l’un représentait le Saint s’adressant à la foule, l’autre la décollation de Saint Jean-Baptiste, ce dernier avait été lacéré par des vandales. Ils sont aujourd’hui déposés à l’intérieur de l’église du village.

Une petite lucarne à gauche de l’entrée principale a fait l’objet d’un aménagement ultérieur, tandis qu’au-dessus de cette même entrée à l’ouest, une tribune flanquée d’une imposante balustrade est accessible par son ouverture au Nord. Au dessus de la porte d’origine, un œil de bœuf a fait l’objet d’une restauration d’après un dessin de Bernar VENET.
EN A place of pilgrimage, since its creation in 1668, the chapel of Saint Jean-Baptiste, located on a flat, is leaned against the promontory which dominates the valley of the Durance.

On August 29, 1753, a special event took place: a seven-year-old child, Pierre Manuel, was cured of an incurable disease during a mass gathering two hundred people celebrating the memory of the decollation Of St. John the Baptist.

From its six hundred and sixty-six meters altitude, it watches over the village and the city that spread out harmoniously at the foot of the legendary hill of the same name.

 Its style of construction and its interior look reflect the modesty and simplicity that characterized the landscape of the Haute Provence of yesteryear.

 The chapel has only one nave with two spans, an ordinary vault, without the search for brilliance, which ends in a semicircular apse.

Originally, the apse was decorated with illuminations, but the whole was rather degraded by the wear and tear of time. Three stained glass windows had been laid at the end of the last century, but today they have been replaced. Two pictures existed inside the Chapel: one representing the Saint addressing the crowd, the other the decollation of Saint John the Baptist, the latter had been lacerated by vandals. They are now deposited inside the village church.

A small skylight to the left of the main entrance has been later refurbished, while above the same entrance to the west, a grandstand flanked by an imposing balustrade is accessible through its opening North. Above the original door, an eye of beef was restored after a drawing by Bernar VENET.
