On the second half of the XVIII century, the Queen D. Maria I, daughter of D. José I, made a promise that a church would be built if she had a son for the trone.
Her wish was granted so the construction started in 1779. Unfortunaly, the son died two years before the opening, in 1790.
This big church, in baroque style, has a couple of twin towers and inside has several figures of saints and others.
Currently, it's very common to see funerals of public personalities being held here.
