The porch was built in 1926 as a First World War memorial. It is built of stone with a pitched stone roof. The inscribed stone tablet is lancet shaped with a cross set in a circular shape and is located on the left hand wall as you enter the porch.
The inscription on the tablet reads as follows;
'1939 (cross) 1945
THIS PANEL WAS GIVEN BY THE PEOPLE OF LAWTON
TO PERPETUATE THE MEMORY OF THEIR KINSFOLK
WHO FELL IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR'
