KEOM-FM is licensed to and owned by the Mesquite TX Independent School District. The station is staffed by Mesquite ISD high school students taking Radio/TV classes in Mesquite, North Mesquite, and Mesquite Poteet High Schools.

"Mesquite Schools Radio" broadcasts all Mesquite high school varsity sports, for both men and women's teams. When games are not going on, the stations plays a mix of 1960s-1980s hits, interspersed with news from the Texas State Network. KEOM-FM broadcasts both student-produced community features and short programs, plus a mix of educational programs and podcasts.

Blasterz' favorite KEOM feature is the local traffic updates stumbled through by student DJs, many of whom do not yet drive and therefore have no idea about where they are referring to. It's a hoot.

Blasterz love listening to KEOM -- it's great to hear the kids who start as timid nervous student DJs in the fall over time get comfortable behind the microphone and find their own voices.

The KEOM tower was purpose-built tall and large enough to rent space to many other broadcasters, including the City of Mesquite (police and fire communications), cellular telephone providers, and other FM stations. Income from tower space rentals (over $2M USD per year) subsidizes the costs of running the radio station, and fully paid off the debt to build the tower in 7 years.
