General Curt von Hobe - Kloster Heisterbach, Königswinter, NRW, Germany - Out of Place Graves on Waymarking.com

The highly decorated Prussian lieutenant general Curt von Hobe was a war hero and commanded the royal 15th division in Cologne since 1820. His tomb is located on the area of the former Cistercian abbey Heisterbach. The tomb is a costly monument. Above a sandstone base there are conical basalt columns with a cross on top.

The tomb was established by Graf Wilhelm Ernst zur Lippe-Bisterfeld who owned the property. Curt von Hobe was a close friend to the family zur Lippe-Bisterfeld. This is the reason why he was buried at own wish on the area of an abbey.

Inscription on the memorial slab.
"Hier ruhen nach langjährigen Verein im Leben und auch im Tode vereint:
Curt von Hobe, königl. Preuss. General – Lieutnant, geboren am 13. Okt. 1765, gestorben zu Köln am 24. Dezember 1822, und Therese von Hobe, geb. Freiin von Rothschütz, geboren am 18. Februar 1770, gestorben zu Köln am 16. Mai 1822. Zu ihnen gesellte der Vorsehung Rathschluss, die treue Gefährtin des Sohnes, Cora von Hobe, geb. Uebel, geboren am 10. Dezember 1807 und gestorben zu Bonn am 14. November 1831"
