Long Description:
The Appalachian Trail is a bi-directional hiking trail that stretches for 2180 miles south through 14 eastern-seaboard US states: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia.

The "official" end of the North-southbound Appalachian Trail through-hike is at the 1934 plaque at the summit of Springer Mountain in Georgia set by the Georgia AT Club.

Once you get there, it's all downhill to the parking area and back to civilization!
