"Gemeinde Altenahr
Blasonierung

"Municipality Altenahr
Blazon
Split of red and silver, the front of the gap half a silver eagle, above which a goldene Krone floats behind a continuous black cross.
Reason
The seal of the Court of Appeal, which was first documented in 1313, shows two shields in the framing:
In the right shield an eagle (AAR), the coat of arms of the Counts of Are, in whose dominion and Kirchspiel Altenahr the center formed. The left sign a cross, the arms of the archdiocese of Cologne, the Friedrich gave in 1246 by Are-Hochstaden with the consent of his brother Conrad, archbishop of Cologne, the county Are. Altenahr remained the administrative seat of the later and until 1794 existing Kurkölnish office Altenahr.
After a note in the Altenahrer Bürgermeistereichronik the Provincial Archive in Koblenz in 1885 designed the above-arms with the golden, about half the silver eagle floating crown because of this seal. This crest representation has been accurately reproduced by Stadler, while Hupp in its presentation of 1930 shows an entire silver eagle, which to a presentation from 1717 ".
