One of the stations of the children's forestry trail "Weg der Artenvielfalt" (Trail of Biodiversity) at the Waldau of Bonn is at the so-called "Kopfbuchen" (i.e. head beech trees), also called ghost beaches. These are old, specially trimmed beeches, which have a bizarre and creepy appearance due to their branches.

In order to preserve nature and to offer the visitors an attractive path even with a muddy forest floor, one has decided to build a wooden boardwalk here, which leads from the main path into the forest to the beech trees. At the end of the way there are several benches, an information sign, and a telescope with which the children and other visitors can examine the trees very closely.
