[En]Bruno Spyckynck, bakery and work retailer, was on March 2, 1876, permission to erect a wooden windmill to grind the grain. In 1880, the mill was moved to a few meters, where the current plant is located.

[Be]Bruno Spyckynck, bakker en winkelier van Werken, kreeg op 2 maart 1876 de toestemming om een houten windmolen op te richten om graan te malen. In 1880 werd deze molen enkele meters verplaatst, naar de plaats waar de huidige molen staat.
De eerste wereldoorlog was echter noodlottig voor de molen. In Torhout vond men de restanten van de Sneppemolen, waarvan de kast uit 1773 nog bruikbaar was. In 1921 werd hij overgebracht ter vervanging van de ter zielen gegane molen.
Deze molen werd in 1933 uitgerust met het wiekverbeteringssysteem 'Van Bussel' en in 1947 volgden 'Faül' fokwieken.
In 1955-1956 werden opnieuw grote herstellingswerken uitgevoerd, met o.a. de aanbreng van nieuwe geklinknagelde roeden. De molen bleef in werking tot in 1977.
