The chapel is provable since the 13th century. The appearance of the chapel is marked by the reconstruction phase after a big fire in 1725 after which the chapel was rebuilt in the baroque style.
The chapel is connected with the "Sioniterhof" which was from 1249 to 1802 in the possession of the cloister of Sion in Cologne.
The chapel is mostly closed, but an outside inspection is possible any time. In the "Luziakapelle" no regular services take place. Services take place now and then to special occasions.
Luziakapelle is a protected building and is listed in "Liste der Baudenkmäler" in Wesseling as number 03.
