In the Federal capital at that time a new community centre should originate in the 1950s. The laying of the foundation stone of the synagogue in the Bonn district of Gronau took place in April, 1958. After short construction time the construction of architect Helmut Goldschmidt could be initiated on the 26th of May, 1959.
The complex passes of a 2-storey synagogue in the east and originally also 2, today 3-storey local house (administrative tract) in the west. Both parts of the building are separated from a glazed foyer area.
