A 6.5' by 2.5' by 2' bronze sculpture of a World War I soldier stands on a 5' by 3' by 3' stone base. The soldier is dressed in battle uniform with his sleeves rolled up. He has a bayonet hanging from his left hip and is carrying a cross used to mark a grave in his right hand. On the ground are a helmet and barbed wire. On the front, left, and right sides of the base are inscription plaques featuring allegorical figures of Peace. The front plaque contains an honor roll of those soldiers from Marlborough, MA who died during World War I. The sculpture was created by John G. Hardy and erected in 1923.
Around bronze base of sculpture is inscribed:

The bronze plaque on front of base contains the names of the battles: APREMONT ST. - MIHIEL - CHATEAU THIERRY - MEUSE-ARGONNE and the following list of names and the dedication:
