La Compagnie du Chemin de Fer, ouvre la ligne AVIGNON - MARSEILLE en 1843.
Le tronçon ROGNONAS, ST CHAMAS avec sur le parcours ST MARTIN DE CRAU ouvrira le 18/10/1847. Ensuite la ligne sera exploitée par le P.L.M. et sera fermée aux voyageurs en 1937.
Les voies sont électrifiées le 5/07/1961.
En 1982 les T.G.V. peuvent franchir la gare à 200 km/h.
En 2004, après 70 ans, le trafic voyageur reprend du service, grâce aux actions conjointes de l'association des usagers du rail, des transport St Martinois, de la région, de la municipalité et du département. Une navette gratuite relie le centre ville et la gare.
