The water tower was established in 1894 and served till 1952 as a water tank for the surroundings. Then the landmark of Berzdorf went over in the possession of the municipality. In 1961 the tower was taken over from the office of Wesseling. In 1978 the city of Wesseling sold the object.

Today the tower accommodates a restaurant. The tower is not accessible to the public. Inspection is always possible from the outside. The water tower is a protected building and is listed in "Liste der Baudenkmäler in Wesseling".
