The passion that led to the founding of the golf course in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein and the courageous start into the implementation of an ambitious project arose through a trial course at Severiano Balesteros. On its estate in Waldshagen, a golf course was to be created that reflects the unique and varied landscape of the Holstein-Switzerland in a distinctive way: hilly landscapes, interrupted by water surfaces, surrounded by trees and at the same time with a magnificent view over the vastness of the landscape. Exploratory talks in 1992 followed a first official plan. It was not easy to convince authorities that a golf course is by no means a burden to nature, but an enrichment of the landscape. The intensive persuasive work done by the now deceased Albert-Jochen Siemen finally led to the granting of the building permit after the third attempt. The first phase was started in May 1996. In the autumn of the same year, the driving range, the 6-hole short course and the tee-off building were completed. In 1997 the first 9 holes were playable. In the autumn of 1999, 8 years after the idea came to an end, the enthusiasm, the iron will, the unshakable optimism and the conviction of Albert-Jochen Siemen had won. The complete 18-hole golf course Gut Waldshagen was officially inaugurated together with the club house.
