The Wisconsin Monument stands at the site of the Andersonville Civil War Prison. It is one of the first monuments that visitors see when they begin their tour of the Andersonville National Historic Site. The monument was authorized in 1903 by State of Wisconsin and it was dedicated on October 17, 1907. The monument was constructed of Georgia Granite capped by a large bronze eagle. The simple inscription reads:

THIS MONUMENT ERECTED BY THE STATE OF WISCONSIN IN GRATEFUL REMEMBERANCE TO HER SONS WHO SUFFERED AND DIED IN ANDERSONVILLE PRISON - MARCH 1864 - APRIL 1865
