This waymark is located at the site of a small piece of Carbon Co. Americana. I’m not a historian by any means. This is one of 3 covered bridges I could find, but the only one still used by the public. The second is in Beltzville State Park, built in 1898, and the third looks like a hobby replica 20' crossing a small stream SW of Trachsville.
The Little Gap bridge, thought to be built around 1910 to 1920, is just a small reminder of days gone by. It's a 92 foot span Burr Arch design that crosses the Buckwa Creek. The Slate roof was added in 1935 and a more extensive restoration in 1986.
Nice little bridge
Current Condition of Bridge: As of 9-18-2011, closed to traffic due to damage from a too-tall vehicle.
