Der Nordturm von Schloss Drachenburg besitzt eine Turmhöhe von 30 Metern. Sein viereckiger Grundriss mit Zinnenbekrönung erinnert an einen Bergfried (Hauptturm einer mittelalterlichen Burg). Die Turmseiten sind im oberen Bereich geschmückt mit Skulpturen des Bildhauers Wilhelm Albermann (1835-1913) und stellen bei-spielhaft verschiedene Kunstgattungen anhand von deutschen Künstlern des Mittelalters und der frühen Neuzeit dar: Die Baukunst mit dem Kölner Dombaumeister Gerhard von Rile (1-um 1271) im Norden, im Osten die Malerei und Grafik mit Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), die Bildhauerkunst mit Peter Vischer (um 1460-1529) im Süden und die Musik und Dichtkunst mit Wolfram von Eschenbach (um 1160/80 - um/nach 1220) im Westen. An der nördlichen Seite des Turmes prangt das Wappen des Bauherrn Stephan von Sarter mit seinem Leitspruch „Wäge - Wage" darunter. Im Sockelbereich ist der Weihespruch der Drachenburg vom Dichter Emil Rittershaus (1834-1897) angebracht.
Im Rahmen der Restaurierungsarbeiten 1994 bis 2010 wurde der Nordturm zusammen mit der darunterliegenden Wagenhalle als erster Sanie-rungsabschnitt im Jahr 2000 fertiggestellt. Nach einer Entkernung erhielt der obere Turmbereich eine stählerne Wendeltreppe. Zwei Aussichtsplatt-formen erlauben weite Panoramablicke über Rheintal und Siebengebirge.
Der Aufstieg erfolgt über enge historische Treppen und steile Durchgänge nach oben. Der Zugang von der Schlossterrasse zum Turm ist auf maximal 25 Personen begrenzt. Wir bitten Sie, auf Ihre Kinder zu achten, und weisen darauf hin, dass Sie den Turm auf eigene Gefahr betreten.

The north tower of Schloss Drachenburg has a tower height of 30 meters. Its quadrangular floor plan, with a crenelation, is reminiscent of a Bergfried (main tower of a medieval castle). The tower sides are decorated in the upper part with sculptures by the sculptor Wilhelm Albermann (1835-1913) and represent various art genres by means of German artists of the Middle Ages and the early modern period: the architecture with the Cologne cathedral master Gerhard von Rile (1-um (1471-1528), the sculpture art with Peter Vischer (around 1460-1529) in the south and the music and poetry with Wolfram von Eschenbach (around 1160/80 - around / After 1220) in the west. On the northern side of the tower is the coat of arms of the builder Stephan von Sarter with his motto "Weighing - Wage" underneath. During the restoration work from 1994 to 2010, the Nordturm was completed as a first sanitation section in 2000, together with the car garage below. After a coring, the upper tower area received a steel spiral staircase. Two viewing-platform shapes allow wide panorama views over the Rhine valley and the Siebengebirge.
The ascent is via narrow historical stairs and steep passages upwards. The access from the castle terrace to the tower is limited to a maximum of 25 persons. We ask you to pay attention to your children and point out that you enter the tower at your own risk.
