L'eau qui alimente la fontaine et le lavoir provient d'une source située dans la combe Barnouin, au-dessus du village. Cette source jaillit d’une nappe phréatique commune aux villages du Beaucet et de Venasque, si bien qu’autrefois, en période estivale, une rotation des jours d'utilisation de l'eau (pair et impair) avait été instituée entre les deux communes.

LE BABILLAGE DES « BUGADIEROS »
La lessive, en provençal, c’est la "bugade". D’où le nom de "bugadieros" que l’on donnait aux lavandières. Le lavoir communal était leur fief : c’est là que les femmes échangeaient les informations, que l’on se racontait ragots et potins.

Celui du Beaucet est tout à fait typique. Il comporte deux bassins, l’un pour laver et l’autre pour rincer, surmontés d’une poutre solide pour tordre les grandes pièces de linge. Il est couvert, afin d’abriter les lavandières du soleil, de la pluie ou du mistral.

Ce lavoir se situe en contrebas de la fontaine, afin d'amener l'eau par gravité. Il a été reconstruit en 1896 en moellons ordinaires de la carrière de pierre du Beaucet ; les dalles et pierres de taille, quant à elles, viennent de Venasque.

The water supplying the fountain and the laundrette comes from a spring located in the Barnouin valley above the village. This source springs from a water table common to the villages of Beaucet and Venasque, so that in the summertime a rotation of days of water use (even and odd) was established between the two communes .

Laundry, in Provencal, is the "bugade". Hence the name "bugadieros" which was given to the washerwomen. The communal washhouse was their stronghold: it was there that the women exchanged the information, that they talked about gossip and gossip.

That of the Beaucet is quite typical. It has two basins, one for washing and the other for rinsing, surmounted by a solid beam to twist large pieces of linen. It is covered, to shelter the washers of the sun, rain or mistral.

This washhouse is located below the fountain, in order to bring the water by gravity. It was rebuilt in 1896 in ordinary stones of the Beaucet stone quarry; The slabs and stones, as for them, come from Venasque.
