[NED] De grenspalen tussen Utrecht en Noord Holland worden ook wel Leeuwenpalen genoemd.
De oude paal werd in 1940 slachtoffer van een aanrijding. Het gerestaureerde exemplaar is te vinden in het Goois Museum in De Vaart.
De nieuwe palen worden in opdracht van de provincies Utrecht en Noord-Holland naar ontwerp van Prof. A.W.H. Odé geplaatst. De oude palen dragen de wapens van het graafschap Holland en Utrecht. Het Utrechtse wapen is een gecombineerd wapen van het graafschap Holland, het bisdom/sticht Utrecht en de stad Utrecht. Bij de nieuwe palen is de leeuw van Holland vervangen door de drie leeuwen van Noord-Holland. De palen zijn gemaakt van natuursteen. Het zijn monolithische langgerekte palen, vrijwel vierkant grondvlak, afgeschuinde hoeken, bovenaan wapens aan straat- en achterzijde.
De grens tussen Utrecht en Noord Holland kent een turbulente geschiedenis.
In 1342 was Jan van Arkel door graaf Willem IV tot bisschop benoemd om de Hollandse belangen in het Sticht te behartigen. De kerkvorst keerde zich echter al snel tegen de Hollands invloed. Van Arkel ging onder andere in het offensief tegen het door Holland bezette Eemnes, dat in vlammen opging. In mei 1351 werd de vrede getekend waarbij onder andere de grensscheiding tussen Gooi en Eemnes ontstond . Toen vervolgens de ,,dolle hertog" Willem V aan de macht kwam in Holland, brak opnieuw een felle oorlog uit.
Pas in 1356 konden de eerder overeengekomen grensafspraken worden uitgevoerd.

The old pole was victim of a collision in 1940. The restored copy can be found at the Goois Museum in De Vaart.
The new posts are commissioned by the provinces of Utrecht and North Holland to design Prof. A.W.H. Odé placed. The old poles carry the arms of the county of Holland and Utrecht. The Utrechtse wapen is a combined weapon of the county of Holland, the diocese of Utrecht and the city of Utrecht. With the new poles, the lion of Holland has been replaced by the three lions of Noord-Holland. The poles are made of natural stone. They are monolithic elongated poles, almost square ground level, bevelled corners, top of the street and back arms.
The border between Utrecht and North Holland has a turbulent history.
In 1342 Jan van Arkel was appointed bishop by Count Willem IV to serve the Dutch interests in the Stichting. However, the church vulture quickly reversed the influence of the Netherlands. Van Arkel, among others, was in the offensive against the Eemnes occupied by Holland, who went into flames. In May 1351 peace was signed, which included the boundary separation between Gooi and Eemnes. When the "dude duke" Willem V came to power in Holland, a fierce war broke out again.
Only in 1356 could the previously agreed border agreements be implemented.
