Wachtendonk. Mit einem Großaufgebot haben am Donnerstagabend Rettungskräfte in der "Blauen Lagune" in Wachtendonk nach einer Frau aus China gesucht. Die 33-Jährige wollte im See schnorcheln gehen und tauchte danach nicht wieder auf. Am Freitag wurde ihre Leiche gefunden.
Gegen 18.45 Uhr wollte die Frau, die aus China zu Besuch in Deutschland war, im Naturfreibad "Blaue Lagune" am Wankumer Heidesee schnorcheln gehen. Irgendwann bemerkten die Freunde der 33-Jährigen, dass sie von ihrem Schnorchelausflug nicht wiedergekommen war, sagte eine Polizeisprecherin auf Anfrage unserer Redaktion.
Da die Frau nach Aussage ihrer Freunde keine gute Schwimmerin ist, wurden sofort Suchmaßnahmen eingeleitet. Das Gelände des Freibades wurde am Abend mithilfe von elf Tauchern, Suchhunden und einem Hubschrauber bis zwei Uhr in der Nacht abgesucht.

Badebetrieb vorübergehend eingestellt
Die Suche wurde am Freitagmorgen ab sieben Uhr fortgesetzt. Am Vormittag war wieder ein Hubschrauber im Einsatz. Taucher der DLRG fanden die Leiche der Frau schließlich gut 15 Meter vom Ufer entfernt in fünf Meter Tiefe und bargen sie.
Laut Polizeisprecher Manfred Jakobi hatte sie ihren Schnorchelausflug
noch im Nichtschwimmerbereich gestartet und war dann offenbar aufgrund mangelnder Schwimmkenntnisse aus diesem Bereich herausgeraten und verunglückt.
In der "Blauen Lagune" ist am Freitag vorübergehend kein Schwimmbetrieb möglich. Um 12.30 Uhr soll er wieder geöffnet werden. Die Polizei gab den vielen Badegäste die Empfehlung, zum Eyller See auszuweichen.

Somehow the friends of the 33-year-olds noticed that she had not recovered from their snorkel trip, a police officer said at the request of our editorial staff.

Bathing temporarily suspended
The search was continued on Friday morning from seven o'clock. In the morning again a helicopter was in use. Divers of the DLRG found the body of the woman finally well 15 meters from the shore in five meters depth and harbored them.
