Das Ballonfestival findet jährlich in der Bonner Rheinaue statt und geht über drei Tage. 20-30 Heißluftballons starten dann mehrmals täglich von der großen Blumenwiese aus. Besucher erwartet zudem ein Rahmenprogramm für Kinder und Familien. Hightlight ist Samstag Abend das sogenannte Ballonglühen. Dann befeuern die Piloten ihre Balons im Dunkeln im Takt zu einem Musikprogramm.

Zuletzt fand das Ballonfestival vom 08. bis 10. Juni 2018 zum zehnten Mal mit 24 Ballon-Teams und über 10.000 Zuschauern statt. Auch für 2019 ist wieder Anfang Juni für das Festival angesetzt und es werden wieder etwa 25 Ballons erwartet.

Der Besuch des Festivals ist kostenfrei. Ballonmitfahrten können vorher gebucht werden. Veranstaltet wird das Festival von der Stadt Bonn in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Ballonfahrten-Anbieter Skytours.

The balloon festival takes place annually in the park Rheinaue in Bonn and goes on for three days. Then, 20-30 hot air balloons start several times a day from the meadow "Große Blumenwiese". Visitors can also expect a supporting program for children and families. Highlight is Saturday night the so-called balloon glow. Then the pilots fire their balloons in the dark synchronous to a music program.

Recently, the balloon festival took place from 8th to 10th June 2018 for the tenth time with 24 balloons and over 10,000 spectators. For 2019, the beginning of June is planned and there will be about 25 balloons expected again.

The festival is free of charge. Balloon rides can be booked in advance. The festival is organized by the city of Bonn in cooperation with the balloon operator Skytours.
