While it looks like this side arm/bay of the Camden Haven River may have been dredged in the past, it is otherwise 'au naturale'.

The local [Hastings] Council has placed a warning sign here, denoting that there is NOT any Life Guard, nor is it patrolled. As this is directly onto the Camden Haven River it is tidal, so caution is required if you consider diving in. [That sign is the extent of 'human intervention' here]. There is a exercise path past here that follows the northern side of the River.

It usually has a sandy base, tho it can get rather muddy if there have been floods/heavy rains. No effort is made to remove the 'sea grass' that drifts in with the tides.

The depth ranges from a very sandy shallow section near the Post Office end of the 'small bay', to over a metre and a half deep (and even 2 m) over near a breakwall that directs the majority of flood waters out to the nearby sea.
