Ludvig Frederik Henrik greve Brockenhuus-Schack (1825-1906) var igennem 38 år amtmand for Svendborg Amt. Han opnåede en stor popularitet blandt Svendborgs borgere og blev derfor under stor festivitas udnævnt til æresborger i 1901, byens første. I 1904 ærede byen ham ved at opstille en bronzestatue foran det daværende rådhus.
Brockenhuus-Schack var søn af hofjægermester Henrik Adolph greve Brockenhuus-Schack til stamhuset Giesegård ved Ringsted og hans hustru Margrethe von der Maase. I en alder af 20 år blev han student i 1845 fra Sorø Akademi. Seks år senere i 1851 blev han cand. jur. Året efter tog han den slesvigske juridiske eksamen og blev udnævnt til herredsfoged i Husby og Ny herreder. Brockenhuus-Schack giftede sig med den 5 år ældre komtesse Julie Georgine Sophie Moltke i 1854. Hun var datter af lensgreve Adam Wilhelm Moltke. Moltke havde en lang og glorværdig karriere indenfor statsadministrationen. I mere end 20 år havde han en række ministerposter. I 1848 blev han den første valgte danske premierminister. Det har nok ikke skadet den unge greves karrieremuligheder at gifte sig med datteren af en så magtfuld mand. Parret fik ikke nogen børn.
