St. Andreas
Andreas war ebenso wie sein Bruder Simon Petrus ein Apostel Jesu Christi.
Andreas war der Bruder des Simon Petrus, wie dieser von Beruf Fischer (Markusevangelium 1, 16); er stammte aus Bethsaida - heute der Hügel Et-Tell bei Ad Dardara in Syrien - (Johannesevangelium 1, 14) oder aus Kafarnaum - - ein heute abgegangener Ort am See Gennesaret (Markusevangelium 1, 29). Er war der erste, den Jesus als seinen Jünger berief; zuvor war er Anhänger Johannes' des Täufers (Johannesevangelium 1, 35 - 40). Im Kreise der zwölf Jünger wird er an unterschiedlichen Stellen in der Rangfolge genannt. Nach dem Markusevangelium (13, 3) gehörte er zu einem der nur vier Jünger, denen Jesus eine Rede über die Endzeit mitteilte. Bei der Speisung der 5000 nach dem Johannesevangelium wies er auf den Jungen mit den Broten und Fischen hin (6, 8f). Nach Johannesevangelium 12, 22 war er zusammen mit Philippus der Fürsprecher für Griechen, die Jesus sehen wollten; er scheint also über gute Griechischkenntnisse verfügt zu haben. Er war beim Abendmahl in Jerusalem, bei der Himmelfahrt und an Pfingsten anwesend, sonst wird er nicht besonders genannt.

Im Inneren der katholischen Dorfkirche zu Neuengrün befindet sich auf der Balustrade der Kirchenempore wo die Kirchenorgel steht eine Figurenansammlung von Jesus Christus, eingerahmt von seinen 12 Aposteln. Die Figuren haben eine Höhe von rund 40 cm und sind stilvoll bearbeitet. Auf der Unterseite ist der jeweilige Name zu erkennen.

Inside the Catholic village church at New Green is located on the balustrade of the church temples where the church organ stands a figurine collection of Jesus Christ, framed by his 12 Apostles. The figures have a height of about 40 cm and are stylishly worked. The name can be seen on the bottom.
