About the Initiative in Fayette County
The 2017 Fayette Leaders Academy cohort, under the direction of the Fay-Penn Economic Development Council, is pleased to announce that fifteen Little Free Libraries are “open for business” in various cities and towns across the county. The county-wide initiative began in September 2016 with the arrival of Fay-Penn’s second Fayette Leaders Academy cohort. The Academy, comprised of leaders from various professions across the county, challenges participants to not only identify their own leadership styles, strengths, and weaknesses, but also to seek out new ways to better serve their communities. In order to fulfill this objective, Fay-Penn challenged the cohort to identify a county-wide need and better serve it through the creation of a service project. Thus began the goal to build, implement, and sustain 15 Little Free Libraries across Fayette County.
