The Essex Terminal Railway is a shortline railroad that operates 21 miles of track between Windsor and Amherstburg ON, with connections to both CN and CP.
It traces its history to 1902.
The caboose on display, #53 is one of two such built for the ETR in 1909. In the 1920's the trucks were deemed unsafe, and thus the two cabooses were only allowed on ETR trackage.
According to the accompanying marker, #53 remained on the ETR roster until 1996, when it was purchased Heritage Essex. Restoration was completed by 2003.
Current Use: On display outside the old Essex Railway Station.
Type Of Caboose: Transfer
