"Der ca. 40.000 qm große Park ist inmitten der ihn umgebenden städtischen Infrastruktur eine Oase der Ruhe und Besinnlichkeit, ein Ort unmittelbaren Erlebens der Gegenwartsskulptur. Er liegt im Dreieck zwischen Zoobrücke, Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer und Riehler Straße. Zu sehen sind Werke von Anish Kapoor bis Heimo Zobernig.
Der Park wurde durch die Privatinitiative des Sammlerehepaares Dr. Michael (gest. 2005) und Dr. Eleonore (gest. 2007) Stoffel 1997 ins Leben gerufen und hat national und international große Anerkennung in der Kunstszene und einer breiten Öffentlichkeit gefunden. In Form von Wechselausstellungen wird eine große Bandbreite moderner zeitgenössischer Außenskulptur präsentiert. Die Ausstellungsreihe KölnSkulptur hat biennalen Charakter. Ihre Reputation wurde durch inzwischen acht Ausstellungen und begleitende Kataloge gefestigt.
Seit 2008 setzt der Vorstand der gemeinnützigen Stiftung Skulpturenpark Köln die Grundidee des Sammlerehepaares Stoffel fort, mit der Aufgabe die Zukunft des Skulpturenpark Köln institutionell zu sichern und als Ort der künstlerischen Dialoge und des Nachdenkens in dieser einmaligen Symbiose von Natur und Kunst zu bewahren. Finanziert wird dieses ambitionierte Vorhaben durch die Michael und Eleonore Stoffel Förderstiftung, durch die Einnahmen aus der Vermietung des Stifterhauses an der Elsa-Brändström-Straße und durch die Stadt Köln, die mit einem jährlichen finanziellen Ausgleich in Form eines Betriebskostenzuschusses den Skulpturenpark Köln als Kultureinrichtung fördert. Für die Ausstellungsreihe 'KölnSkulptur' konnten in der Vergangenheit zusätzlich Sponsoren, Förderer und Mäzene gefunden werden, die großzügig zur Realisierung beigetragen haben."

"The 40,000 square metre Skulpturenpark Köln is embedded in the Cologne city landscape and represents an oasis of peace, the perfect place for contemplation and appreciation of the contemporary sculptures. It lies in the triangle formed by the Zoobrücke, the Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer and the Riehler Straße. Pieces are on view by artists ranging from Anish Kapoor to Heimo Zobernig.
The Skulpturenpark Köln was founded in 1997 through the private initiative of Drs. Michael and Eleonore Stoffel and has since gained an unrivalled reputation within the national and international art community as well as amongst the general public. The concept of combining permanent and temporary exhibitions means that a broad spectrum of contemporary sculptures is presented to the visitor; the eight different temporary exhibitions between 1997 and 2015 and the respective catalogues have underlined the importance of these works.
Following the death of the founders, the non-profit Skulpturenpark Köln Foundation was formed and given the remit to secure the future of the Skulpturenpark as a public institution. The city of Cologne has financially supported the Skulpturenpark on a yearly basis since 2013 and so makes a vital contribution to the preservation of the Skulpturenpark Köln as a place where a unique symbiosis of nature and art generates artistic dialogue and personal reflection."
