Kunstner: Thorvald G. Larsen. Sten- og billedhugger. Uddannet i Odense og flere steder i udlandet. Startede værksted i Svendborg i 1927 i Brogade, senere på terassen og sluttede i Korsgade 22. Lavede desuden døbefonten i Strynø kirke.

Datering: 1948

Type: Mindesmonument i bornholmsk granit. På forsiden indsat et bronzerelief, der forestiller stævnen af et skib på havet med en Jesus-figur stående på en af ræerne. På bagsiden følgende inskription: ”Borgere i Svendborg by og omegn rejste denne sten til minde om søfolk og fiskere under Svendborg Toldsted som krigsforliste i aarene 1914-18 og 1939-45”. På sidefladerne 2 vers fra Hans Hartvig Seedorff Pedersens sang: ”Der rider en konge i Sol og i Blæst”.

Placering: Sct. Jørgens Park.

Fakta: Rejst til minde for faldne søfolk i begge verdenskrige. Udgifterne blev indsamlet af en privat komite med kaptajn Møller (Camma) som formand.

ENGLISH:
Artist: Thorvald G. Larsen. Stone and sculptor. Trained in Odense and several places abroad. Started workshop in Svendborg in 1927 in Brogade, later on the terrace and ended at Korsgade 22. Also made the fountain in Strynø church.

Dating: 1948

Type: Memorial monument in Bornholm granite. On the front side, a bronze lover depicting the bow of a ship at sea with a Jesus figure standing on one of the rows. On the back, the following inscription: "Citizens in Svendborg City and surrounding area traveled this stone in memory of sailors and fishermen under Svendborg Toldsted as war crimes in the years 1914-18 and 1939-45." On the sides 2 verse from Hans Hartvig Seedorff Pedersen's song: "There is a king riding in the sun and in the wind".
 
Location: Sct. Jørgens Park.

Facts: Raised in memory of fallen sailors in both world wars. The expenses were collected by a private committee with Captain Møller (Camma) as chairman.
