Aujourd'hui semi-enterrée, la fontaine se situe à la hauteur du sol ancien.
La fontaine est alimentée par le "Gouffre" depuis sa création, réservoir naturel recueillant les eaux de pluies et d'infiltrations et exploité depuis l'antiquité pour alimenter la ville en eau."
