Lodge first applied for organization in 1844 under the name of Trinity Lodge. The name was changed to Lothrop in 1845 because there was already a Trinity Lodge (#14) in Livingston, TX.

The first lodge building burned in 1871. This two story brick is possibly the lodge's second home.
