The water towers, located about a quarter mile south west of the Amargosa Opera House and hotel in Death Valley Junction, date from the mid 1920's.

They were used to service the steam locomotives of the Tidewater and Tonopah Railroad, which used to haul borax out of Death Valley for processing.

The railroad is long-gone, but the towers remain in mute testimony to a bygone age.

The towers are on private property, but are easily viewable from roadside CA 127.
