Three flood levels from 1839, 1872 and 1875 are recorded on a stone that at one side advertised the ferry.
The flood levels are on the side facing the river, whilst the other side has the inscription 'ASK FOR BOAT AT CABIN'.
The ferry operated form hundreds of years until it was replaced by a footbridge in 1964.
The website below describes events during another flood in 1947 during World War II in the area. The article mentions the ferry and the fact that this flood reached the same level as the 1839 flood.
