Maria Eich ist ein junges Kloster. 1746 ließ der Planegger Gutsherr Baron von Ruffin eine einstöckige Klause errichten und verlegte die Schule vom Dorf Planegg hierher. 1790 setzte man ein zweites Stockwerk darauf.

Von 1746 bis etwa 1837 versahen insgesamt dreizehn Klausner neben ihrem Dienst als Mesner und Organist auch die Aufgabe des Schullehrers. Danach wurden keine Geistlichen mehr, sondern Weltliche als Mesner und Lehrer beschäftigt.

Auf Wunsch von Kardinal Michael von Faulhaber übernahmen 1953 die Augustinereremiten die Seelsorge am Wallfahrtsort und im nahegelegenen Waldsanatorium. Sie bauten 1958 ein kleines Kloster an die bestehende Eremitenklause und erweiterten den Komplex um eine Kirche, die sie 1966 nochmals vergrößerten.

Derzeit leben und arbeiten im Kloster sechs Augustinerpatres und ein Bruder.

Maria Eich is a young monastery. In 1746 the Planegger landlord Baron von Ruffin had a single-storey cellar and moved the school from the village of Planegg. In 1790 a second floor was placed on it.

From 1746 to about 1837, a total of thirteen Klausner, besides their service as a teacher and organist, also provided the task of the school teacher. After that, no clergymen, but secular men, were employed as teachers and teachers.

At the request of Cardinal Michael von Faulhaber in 1953, the Augustine monasteries took over pastoral care at the place of pilgrimage and the nearby forest sanatorium. They built a small monastery in 1958 to the existing hermit enclosure and expanded the complex around a church, which they enlarged again in 1966.

Currently, the monastery is home to six Augustinian fathers and a brother.
