PIC Welcome to Denny's Canada

For over 60 years, Denny’s has been a place where people can come in, sit down and connect with one another over great food. It’s a place that was founded on community, where you can have “the usual” or try something new. We’re always open and we’re always serving your favourite dishes 24/7. So come in, leave your troubles at the door and enjoy some great food. See you at Denny’s..

We like Denny's and had breakfast there on one of our trips through. K had his usual pancakes and I really wanted their biscuits and gravy, however this Denny's does not offer it on the menu and though I did ask for them they are not available. So I opted for bacon and eggs. While we last visited in 2015, it was in February of 2017 that Denny's managed to get its name in the news, quite innocently, when it became the scene of a less than peaceful arrest.

RCMP officer injured during arrest

MARK BRETT - Tue Feb 14th, 2017 12:32am
A Penticton RCMP officer required hospital treatment after being injured while attempting to arrest a prolific offender about 12:30 p.m. Feb. 8 in the parking lot of Denny’s restaurant.

The Mountie suffered a dislocated finger after the man allegedly used a small hatchet during an altercation at the time of his arrest.

The second officer’s glasses were broken at the same time however he was not hurt, according to Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth.

The situation began a short time earlier when the two members of the Targeted Enforcement Unit spotted a vehicle with a man they identified as being wanted on outstanding warrants leaving a residence. RCMP followed the vehicle to Denny’s at 939 Burnaby Ave. West.

According to Wrigglesworth, police boxed the vehicle in and the suspect was observed jumping from the rear passenger seat of a Jeep Cherokee into the hatch area.

After the altercation the man was arrested with the help of a member of the public who was a passenger in the car.

Police identified the man they arrested on the outstanding warrants which included several breach of probation, possession of stolen property and failing to appear matters as Lawrence Jordan Brown. Wrigglesworth said police are also recommending charges against the same individual of assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon. According to the court registry online, those charges were laid on Feb. 8.

Brown appeared in provincial court in Penticton Thursday and is scheduled to return March 8.
